January 23, 2008 – Wednesday; 2 Weeks to Completion?
In the community room some lights have been installed but a few more light fixtures, numerous switches, outlets, & flooring need to be done. The railing has been installed from the 2nd floor hallway that over looks the room. They are currently working on installing the ceramic tiles (A-B) in the entryway and the portion of the community room with a low ceiling. The main part of the community room will have carpet. The door to the deck will be installed this week. That will be the last "opening" to be installed in the structure. The patio & deck are mostly in place except for the railing and a some cement/brick work. They are waiting for some warmer days for that outside work! The basement still has quite a bit of work both electrically and otherwise. Wood work is being installed and completed soon. The part of the basement that will be "finished" will have ceramic tile for the floors. It will take a good while for that to be completed. The framework for the drop ceilings in the basement and hallways in the living quarters are in place. I'm guessing they will be installed once the inspector oks the electrical and mechanical work above those ceilings. The panels could probably be installed in one day by crew of workers. Another photo slide show has been added which includes most the photos located above and a few more with explanations beneath the photos.
January 1, 2008 – New Years Day; Tuesday; 5 Weeks to Completion February 5th has been set as the "Final" completion date.
The living areas are beginning to look livable! These past two
weeks have seen a lot of finishing work in the private rooms. The
walls
are all painted a nice warm golden color and the wood trim is stained
and sealed. The outlets and light switches have been installed
and many of the light fixtures are also in place. Some of the carpet
for the rooms has arrived and waits in the hallway. The restrooms
are complete except for a mirror and medicine cabinet. Community room progressing. The community room has had some paneling installed which is ready to be stained. The walls and ceiling are reading to be painted. Electrical work remains and the heat pumps are not ready. Basement has much work yet to be done. The drywall has been hung in the basement and plaster work is progressing. The ceilings are still exposed and lots of electrical work remains. The woodwork has not begun in this area. The area is still being heated by a propane heater. Deck is on order. The materials for the deck off the community room have been ordered
for the third time and should arrive soon. It is a long story.

The
past three weeks have seen tremendous progress on the Abbey addition.
The
private rooms are now basically complete. Maybe a little touch
up is needed here or there but they are done and they look wonderful.
The carpet for the hallways still needs to be installed.
