Christmas Celebrations at the Mount

For the first time in several years we get to celebrate a "white" Christmas at Mount Michael. The last several have been rather warm and gray. This year winter and snow arrived shortly after thanksgiving and has been doing a real good job of hanging on. This year's celebrations of Christmas started with the 8:00 PM Christmas eve Mass which was a full house as is usual. Abbot Michael Liebl O.S.B. celebrated the liturgy in D.J. Sokol chapel. The music was beautifully accompanied by Mrs. Marilynn Theis on organ and Alum Kyle Svingen on Violin. Afterwards many of the guests gathered in the dining room for a bit of Christmas fellowship and snacks.

On Christmas morning, Mass was celebrated by Prior Richard Thell O.S.B. The number of guests for this Mass was much smaller as is usually the case. But everyone sang with gusto and it was a very nice celebration.

In the evening the monastic community gathered in the monastery for dinner and an exchange of gifts. All the monks are quite grateful this Christmas for the may gifts and support that our friends have shown us this past year. A special thanks to those who have helped us make our dream of a new abbey a reality. We are looking forward to moving into our new abode later this winter. Thank you to all and have a Merry Christmas.
