Bro. Gregory Congote ordained to transitional diaconate

On Saturday morning May 22, 2010 the monks of Mount Michael Abbey gathered with friends and family in the D.J. Sokol Chapel to celebrate the ordination of Brother Gregory Congote O.S.B. Omaha's Archbishop George Lucas presided at the ordination and mass.

Brother Gregory was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1965 to Ivan and Myriam Congote. In Colombia he studied philosophy and modern languages were he earned a bachelors of arts degree. He professed his vows as a Benedictine in 2003. He taught Spanish at Mount Michael Benedictine School for several years before proceeding to St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota for his theological studies. This fall he will return to St. John's University to complete his studies and then return to Omaha in December to serve as a deacon in the Omaha Archdiocese leading to his ordination to the priesthood in 2011.
